Since 1977
A Small Barn on Scenic Road
It all started in 1977 in a small barn out on Scenic Road in beautiful Lancaster County, PA. The barn was on a farm owned by Mr. Lapp, a man whose family had been working the land in the Amish way for generations.
Needless to say, Mr. Lapp knew a thing or two about farming, and about creating products that would make the job more efficient. A two-wheeled wheelbarrow that remains the industry standard today—for ease of use, strength, and longevity—was the first of its kind. This was brought to market in 1982.

Mr. Lapp made innovative changes like this, as he used his own experience as inspiration.
In 2003, Mr. Lapp chose to return to his first love: farming. He sold Scenic Road Manufacturing to David Esh, a long-time employee, who led the company with his wife Sarah for the next 20 years.
In keeping with its roots, Scenic Road Manufacturing remains a privately-owned Amish business, always true to its strong values when it comes to family and faith.

From Our Family to Yours
In 2022, the Kambesis family acquired Scenic Road Manufacturing through PSS Manufacturing Company Inc., beginning a new chapter rooted in the same values that built the company. Family-owned and guided by a simple mantra... Safety, Quality, Customer Service.
Christ Kambesis brings a background in global manufacturing leadership, operations, and agriculture. Nichole Kambesis brings years of human resources and business finance experience. Together, they're guiding Scenic Road into its next chapter without losing sight of where it came from.
David Esh remains with the company, leading the innovation team. The product development instincts that served Scenic Road for two decades continue to shape what comes next.
The commitment hasn't changed. Every wheelbarrow is still built by hand in Lancaster County by skilled craftsmen. What's new is a family dedicated to carrying Scenic Road forward... investing in the people, the products, and the legacy that started in a small barn on Scenic Road nearly 50 years ago.
